Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 578: 577 Threats

Half an hour ago, after talking on the phone with Jiang Liu, she asked a friend who worked at this hospital to find out if Jiang Liu had been admitted.

As suspected, he had, on the night he said he was away on business.

Hearing this fact was like knocking over a seasoning jar; countless feelings mixed up within her. The words Cheng Jia said echoed in her ears, prompting her elegant eyebrows to furrow tightly.

About ten minutes later, she saw Jiang Liu emerge from the hospital. He had a small bag in his hands, likely filled with a change of clothes.

He seemed thinner than just a few days prior. Seeing his slender figure, a slight pang of pain welled up in her heart. She had feelings for him; knowing he had kept his hospitalization from her stoked a rage that was overwhelmed by other emotions when she saw him.

Just as she was about to get out of the car, she saw a woman step out of another car not too far ahead. It was Cheng Jia, the woman she had encountered at the hospital the day before.

Although there was a distance between Jiang Liu and Cheng Jia, Shen Yuting’s first instinct was that Cheng Jia was there to pick him up.

Her hand retracted from the car door, her complexion subtly shifted, and she subconsciously pursed her lips, her gaze turning frosty as she watched the two of them from afar.

Spotting Cheng Jia from afar, Jiang Liu’s face immediately darkened and he turned to walk in the opposite direction.

“Jiang Liu!”

Cheng Jia called out and quickly jogged up to him, standing in front of him, her face lit with a warm smile: “I came to pick you up from the hospital.”

“Move!”

With a frown, Jiang Liu glared at Cheng Jia, he didn’t want to have any interaction with her.

But just as luck would have it, this woman was like a tenacious ghost. On his second day of hospitalization, she had found out and rushed to see him, even bringing soup she had made herself.

He had angrily thrown her soup to the ground and lashed out at her, asking if she had sent the men who had attacked him. Cheng Jia had vehemently denied it.

The sun shone on Cheng Jia’s smiling face, making it appear even more enchanting. She reached out to take the bag out of his hand, tenderly spoke: “Jiang Liu, are you still angry with me? I’ve found out who hurt you that night.”

Jiang Liu sneered, disbelievingly staring at her.

Cheng Jia took the opportunity to put her hand over his and said softly, “It was Gu Kai. He found out about you and Shen Yuting, and after doing some digging, he probably also found out about us, so he sent someone to teach you a lesson in Shen Yuting’s name.”

“You’re talking nonsense.”

Without a second thought, Jiang Liu rejected Cheng Jia’s words.

His instinct told him that couldn’t be true. Even if Gu Kai did find out about him and Yuting, knew about his past with Cheng Jia, or even his past indiscretions, he wouldn’t have someone beat him up senselessly.

Despite the fact that those men had warned him to stay away from Yuting that night.

“I’m not lying to you, I have evidence. Get in the car with me, and I’ll show it to you, so you can see for yourself.”

Cheng Jia’s smile disappeared, replaced by a serious expression as she looked at Jiang Liu.

Jiang Liu hesitated, and as she turned to leave without another word, he coldly scoffed and followed her to her car.

In the white Maserati, Shen Yuting’s expression had changed several times before settling on a ghostly pallor. A slight pain and bitter laughter spread from the depths of her heart to the rest of her body, as her grip on the steering wheel gradually tightened.

Watching Jiang Liu get into Cheng Jia’s car, she no longer had the heart to continue watching and drove away.

Because she wasn’t driving her own car that day, Jiang Liu was unaware of her presence. If he knew, he probably wouldn’t have gotten into the car with Cheng Jia, no matter what she had said.

Upon entering Cheng Jia’s car, he coldly asked, “Where’s the evidence!”

Cheng Jia let out a soft laugh and leisurely opened the glove box, pulling out an envelope and handing it to him. Jiang Liu accepted it with confusion, gave her a wary look, then opened the envelope.

Inside, he found his personal records, photos, and pictures of him and Shen Yuting together. Cheng Jia spoke in a flirtatious, lightly mocking tone: “I told you I wasn’t lying, now do you believe me? You thought you and Shen Yuting could have a fairy-tale ending. Jiang Liu, you really think too highly of them. If you didn’t share a passing resemblance to the man Shen Yuting deeply loves, how could she possibly be with you?”

Jiang Liu’s face became increasingly grave. His grip on the photos tightened. He didn’t want to believe Cheng Jia’s words, but he and Yuting indeed came from different worlds.

She was so graceful, elegant, and from a wealthy background whereas he had nothing to match her.

“You probably don’t know, before Shen Yuting was with you, she confessed to Mo Xiuchen. Not only was she rejected, but she was also humiliated. Although she was heartbroken, she might’ve been jealous of Wen Ran, which is why she is with you.”

“Shut up!”

Jiang Liu interrupted Cheng Jia harshly, his gaze fierce as if ready to spit fire. He wouldn’t allow her to speak ill of Yuting. In his eyes, Shen Yuting was perfect.

Not like this shameless woman. She was with him for his face and his body, which was similar to Mo Xiuchen’s, to potentially create a scandal later on.

Cheng Jia was cut off by his angry shout.

Jiang Liu spat out angrily, “Yuting isn’t what you say she is. I won’t allow you to say a word against her. Cheng Jia, do you think I’ll believe your words just because you have all this? Who can guarantee that it wasn’t you who investigated all of this or bribed the private detective?”

At this point, he furrowed his brows, feeling a discomfort spreading through his body and a dryness in his throat.

When he entered the car, he had ignored it, but now he sensed a scent of perfume in the car. The smell was pleasant…

His eyes narrowed as he glared at Cheng Jia: “What’s wrong with the perfume in your car?”

Cheng Jia giggled, saying nothing. Instead, she unzipped her jacket to reveal her low-cut undergarment. Her full breasts were half exposed, her bra missing.

“You’re absolutely shameless.”

Jiang Liu spat out in disgust, turning to open the car door.

Cheng Jia started the car at this moment. The doors were locked, preventing him from escaping. As he struggled with the door, a sudden movement of the car made him lose his balance momentarily, preventing him from successfully getting out.

“Cheng Jia, stop the car!”

Jiang Liu yelled angrily and reached out to grab the steering wheel from Cheng Jia.
