Chapter 179 - Important News!
"Good morning sleepy head!" he smiled a bit.
Rebecca was about to reply to him with a greeting... but suddenly she remembered everything that transpired between them last night, gosh! Her face reddened. "C-can you please hand me my clothes?" she requested.
Corbin released a deep sigh. He left the bed, scooped her clothes from the chair, and gave it to her.
"Thank you. Where is the toilet?" she asked.
Corbin pointed to the closed door near the window.
Rebecca wrapped the blanket around her body and rose to her feet, she left the bed and went inside the toilet to clean herself.
When she exited the bathroom a few minutes later, she was already fully clothed.
Corbin was standing at the window.
She sat on the edge of the bed looking at his back, she sighed deeply and scratched her head as the realization dawned on her, she\'s now a prisoner in this mansion! Not only she failed to kill the vampire couple, but she also broke her promise to Corbin.
He turned around and looked at her. "So, what is your plan?" he asked her calmly.
Rebecca took a deep breath. "I dunno... my power is not working again," she said.
Corbin went to the bed and sat beside her. "Because you are inside our house, you underestimated how powerful my parents are. You are in the enemy\'s territory! Do you think you can just enter our house and kill them that easily? You\'re wrong my dear! You should have listened to me!" He gritted his teeth in anger while scolding her.
Rebecca rolled her eyes. But he was right and she was wrong, so she has to bear his scolding this time because he saved her again the second time around. "Please tell me what to do, Corbin! Can you help me? I promise you, that once I can get out of this place alive I will never come back. I will forget what your parents have done to me. I will forget revenge!" she said in a distraught pleading voice.
Corbin shook his head, doubting her words.
"I don\'t believe you. You\'re going to destroy your promise again even if I\'ll give you another chance," he said in a tired voice.
"No...no...I promise you... this time I will go away!" she said, teary-eyed.
Corbin released a deep sigh.
She dropped on bended knees on the floor and begged him. "Please help me..." she pleaded with tears rolling down her face.
Corbin looked at her tear-stained face, his heart was being squeezed painfully inside his rib cage. He reached for her hand and pulled her back on the bed. "Okay...I will help you...but I warned you... this is the last time..." he said in a hard voice.
"Thank you!" Rebecca said, feeling grateful for his help.
"Are you going to follow and cooperate with my plan?" he asked.
Rebecca nodded her head. "Yes! I\'ll follow all your command this time," she responded without hesitation.
"Good!" he said.
"What\'s the plan?" she asked eagerly, wanting to follow his order as long she can get out of this place alive.
Corbin cleared his truth. "Here\'s the plan... Last night we already established to my parent\'s eyes that we are lovers. But I discovered that they still put guards outside the door, which means they\'re not fully convinced yet. If they will begin to interrogate you, you have to tell them that we meet at a masquerade party. And we have become lovers for more than two months already. In short, we are in a relationship. You are an orphan of demon origin and living with your relatives..."
Rebecca fell silent for a moment digesting his words.
"Can you pretend that we are lovers?" he asked her.
"Yes! I can do that!" Rebecca nodded her head.
"Good! There may be times that I will become affectionate to you, like... kissing you, hugging you in front of my parents to show my affection to you. So - you have to bear my touches and pretend that you enjoyed them," he said.
"No problem," she replied. They already did the deed last night, she has nothing to hide and protect anymore.
"Good girl!" Corbin said. "As long we can convince my parents that we are lovers then they will eventually lower their guard down and I can take you away from this place. All I need is your complete cooperation..."
Rebecca nodded her head. "I will. Thank you so much!" she said and buried her face on his chest. He was committed to helping her escape, and for that, she felt grateful for his understanding, support and assistance during these difficult times. She knew that it\'s very hard for him to do so. But because of her, he\'s willing to go against his parents. She feels that she\'s not worthy of his help and trust. But she has no other choice, he\'s the only one who can help her.
Corbin sighed and wrapped his arms around her. "You\'re such a stupid girl, so stubborn!" he said.
"I know." Rebecca bit her lip.
Minutes went by.
There was a gentle knock on the door.
They disengaged from their embrace and looked at the door.
"Who\'s there?" Corbin asked.
"My lord, breakfast is ready!" said the servant outside the door.
"Okay, we will go down in a minute..." Corbin replied.
The servant left the door and walked back into the hallway.
"Fix your appearance and dry the tears in your face," he told her.
"Okay." Rebecca stood up and went to the bathroom to splash water on her face. After she\'s done in the toilet, she went to the dresser table and looked at herself in the mirror. She combs her short hair, readying herself mentally and emotionally to face her enemy. They knew her as Laura, they don\'t know her as Rebecca. The only thing she needs to do is hide the hatred from her eyes. If she can do that... there shouldn\'t be any problem at all.
Corbin looked at her. "Darling... are you ready to meet my parents?" he asked, his eyes dancing with mischief.
"Yes darling..." she replied.
Corbin reached for her hand. "Let\'s go my love..." he said.
The couple walked towards the door holding each other\'s hand.
They exited the room, walked in the hallway, and went to the staircase. They descended the stairs and proceed to the dining room area.
When they entered the dining area, the vampire couple was already sitting in their seats. They looked at their son and the woman beside him... their eyes drawn to the couple\'s joined hands. Corbin was never this affectionate towards the previous women he brought home. This woman was 5th on the list. Could she be the one?
"Good morning, Father, Mother!" Corbin said.
"Good morning, My Lord and Madam!" Rebecca conveyed her greetings to the couple.
Sylvia smiled. "Good morning, guys! Take your seat and we shall start eating our meals," she said.
Zalvo smiled at the couple.
The newcomers settled on their seats comfortably, they ate in silence.
Rebecca noticed that the vampire couple also eats human food. She was no longer surprised because all the vampires she met in her life were already eating human foods.
They finished eating breakfast and retire into the living room.
It\'s interrogation time!
Rebecca is more than ready for this scenario, thanks to Corbin for giving her a short briefing.
Sylvia looked at her son\'s lover. "Dear...what is your name?"
"My name is Rebecca..." she answered.
"You don\'t look like you are a vampire to me. What is your origin?" Sylvia asked.
"I\'m a demon in origin. My family and our whole tribe were massacred by the enemies and I was still a young child during that time. I\'m an orphan and I live with my distant relatives," she eagerly told them the half-truth and half fake history.
"I see... We are sorry for your loss," Sylvia said.
"It\'s okay, Madam. I\'m already used to it," she replied.
"So... where did you meet my playboy son?" Sylvia asked.
Corbin groaned. "Mother...!"
Sylvia smiled at her son. "I\'m just telling the truth..."
"We meet at a masquerade party that my friends and I have attended," Rebecca responded.
"I see... how long you\'ve been in a relationship with my son?" Sylvia continues interrogating her.
"More than two months, Madam," Rebecca answered.
Sylvia nodded her head and looked at her husband, their eyes were communicating silently.
Corbin noticed the exchanged glances between his mother and father, he had a bad feeling about it.
Sylvia rose to her feet. "Son, may I borrow Rebecca for a while. I want to show her something..." she said.
Corbin was suspicious of her mother\'s action. "Mother...Father... I have an important announcement to make!" he quickly said.
Zalvo looked at his son. "What is it, son?" he asked.
Corbin hugged Rebecca and planted a loving kiss on her forehead. "We\'re planning to get married next month!" he finally said.
Sylvia and Zalvo looked at each other in disbelief. They didn\'t expect that their playboy son would finally settle down.
"A-are you sure?" Sylvia asked, still doubting her son\'s decision. "Is she the one?" she asked.
Corbin smiled. "Yes...I\'m sure 101%..." he replied.
Zalvo clapped his hands. "Alright...we shall have a family celebration!" he said.
Corbin looked at his mother. His mother is the hardest to convince, she\'s always suspicious of everything.
Then Sylvia smiled cunningly. "What did you say? You and Rebecca will get married next month? Why can\'t you get married in two weeks? What are you waiting for? Why wait for next month?" she challenged them.
Corbin and Rebecca looked at each other.
"Darling... we shall get married in two weeks. Would you agree?" Corbin asked Rebecca.
Rebecca smiled brightly. "I would love to! I can\'t wait to marry you! I\'m willing to marry you even today... right now... if possible!" she said happily and hugged her future husband enthusiastically.
Finally, Sylvia was close to being convinced that the couple was not faking it, they\'re indeed serious about marrying each other. "Alright...we will have a garden wedding at the back of the mansion in two weeks! I will invite our closest friends and relatives!" she said excitedly.
Zalvo smiled at the couple. "I can\'t wait to see my grandchildren soon!" He broke into a grin. "What do you think wife?" he asked her opinion.
Sylvia\'s eyes lit up... the thoughts of seeing little vampires running around the house excites her. She was already busy imagining and organizing the incoming wedding party in her mind!
Zalvo looked at the couple. "You can return to your room now if you wish." He permitted them to leave.
"Thanks, Father, Mother!" Corbin said.
The couple left the living room, holding hands. They climbed the stairs going back to Corbin\'s room.
