Chapter 126

But as they got closer and closer to the main continent of the demon realm, Vera decided that she would fly ahead of the sailboat to see the condition of the mainland first.

Blake and Robus waited patiently on the sailboat and made sure that the sailboat didn’t steer off course by moving the helm of the ship according to the direction of the huge mass of land in front of them.

Vera flew high enough that she would not be seen by the humanoid demons if there were any on the shore, but not too high that her vision was obstructed by the clouds.

And as she finally got close enough to the shore of the main continent, she felt glad that she decided to fly that high as if she were to fly lower, then the hundreds of humanoid demons below her would definitely notice her presence.

The sight below her was undoubtedly a new sight for her even though she had been living for more than a few years in the first demon realm, albeit most of the time she stayed at her basement creating new spells and rune formations.

And it was a sight that she didn’t even think was possible in the first demon realm.

Literally, hundreds of humanoid demons were currently present on the shore.

But it wasn’t that fact that had baffled her and thought that such a thing happening was impossible.

.....

A gathering mass of humanoid demons was rare, but it wasn’t impossible to happen as the smarter humanoid demons that had the strength and capability to lead would be able to gather dozens of humanoid demons under their banner to fight off another group so that they would be able to eat tasty souls that gave them a lot of strength.

And such a fight between those huge groups would result in a mass of humanoid demons gathering in one place.

However, that wasn’t the case when Vera looked down to the shore, it was something really far, far away from that.

Instead of fighting and killing each other to gather souls, the hundreds of humanoid demons below her didn’t even draw a single blood from the humanoid demons around them.

What they did instead with their hands was, swinging, placing, and hammering a piece of carved wood onto other pieces of wood.

It wasn’t clear what they were building when the humanoid demons were only joining two parts of wood, but when Vera looked closer to the shore where there were more parts of wood that had been joined together, it was clear what they were building.

Hundreds of humanoid demons, that shouldn’t even know how to use hammers and nails, were now currently building tens of wooden sailboats, the exact replica of the sailboat that Vera, Blake, and Robus were now riding on to get onto the main continent.

‘What in the actual hell has happened here...’ Vera cursed inwardly as she saw these events that just didn’t make a single sense to happen in the first demon realm where demons were supposed to be in a constant state of hunting and fighting each other to evolve as fast as they could.

Their instincts should have driven them to eat more souls so that they could evolve and go to the deeper, second demon realm.

But somehow, the natural instinct that demons had when they were born had gone out of existence and the humanoid demons were all now currently building sailboats.

‘Things might be more complicated than I first thought.’ Vera thought to herself as she started moving to circle around the island a little more.

Vera spent a little more time exploring the island and by the time she returned to the two boys, the sailboat was already close enough to the main continent that Blake could vaguely see the main continent’s terrains.

Different from the island where the shore connected straight to the dense and lush forest, the shore of the main continent was directly connected to a large plain that had huge uneven grounds all over them.

There were high mounds of earth here and there that instantly caught Blake’s attention, rare sights of tall greens – or simply said, trees, and a lot of greens – grass, spread all over the lands where the tall mounds of earth were absent.

But the very first thing that caught Blake’s attention after the tall mounds of earth was none other than the blur, countless unknown dots that he found along the line of the shore.

He wondered what they were, but his question was soon answered when Vera descended down from the sky.

“We should adjust our trajectory a little, there were hundreds of humanoid demons on the shore where we were going to currently.”

“Hundreds...?” Blake muttered, imagining how he would be able to deal with hundreds of them at the same time.

Remembering how he had fared against 25 humanoid demons, Blake couldn’t imagine what he would be able to do if he were faced with hundreds of them.

Even with the new rune formations that he had developed, Blake just couldn’t see himself winning a direct confrontation against hundreds of humanoid demons at the same time.

“Where should we go then?” He quickly asked Vera as he already had his hands on the steering wheel of the ship, ready to steer the ship in any other direction other than straight forward.

“I found another shore, even bigger than this one, not too far away from this shore and there wasn’t a single humanoid demon there. We should be able to easily land there without being noticed by the humanoid demons.”

Vera then pointed in a new direction to Blake before the latter adjusted the sailboat to move in said direction.

It took quite some time for the group to finally arrive at the main continent, but with the sail that had been inscribed with a rune formation that gave it a forward-pushing momentum, it didn’t take them too long to do it.

The other shore that Vera had led them to was definitely a larger one compared to the shore that had humanoid demons, and there were even fewer tall earth mounds that would certainly make it easier for the humanoid demons to transport the materials they needed to make the boats.

Vera had told Blake that the humanoid demons were all building the same sailboats on the other shore, hence why there were hundreds of them at the same time.

“Why don’t they build their sailboats here?” Blake asked as he realized that the topography of the land here was much more suited to be used as a project ground compared to the other.

‘Were they not able to realize that fact? Vera said that the humanoid demons here weren’t the brightest ones after all,’ Blake thought to himself as his sailboat got closer and closer to the shallow waters.

But Blake soon found out that he might be the foolish one here when a bright and shining fireball suddenly appeared from behind one of the tall earth mounds, heading straight to his wooden boat.
