Chapter 133 - 133: You Cheated on Me!
Huo Sicheng’s handsome face darkened as he gazed at Chu Yu with his icy eyes.
“Isn’t it odd to hear such words from your mouth?”
“…” Chu Yu was taken aback, his response awkward as he said, “President Huo, I was mistaken in the past. I held strong biases against Madam. Now, I hold no opinions about her. I merely wish for President Huo and Madam to find happiness.”
These words were sincere, originating from deep within him.
He contemplated his actions.
When Gu Qingcheng first married Huo Sicheng, he hadn’t approved of her. He couldn’t sway Mr. Huo’s decision, nor could he confront Gu Qingcheng.
After their divorce, it seemed like Huo and Gu Qingcheng were reconciling.
As Mr. Hunt’s assistant, he naturally wished for Mr. Hunt’s happiness.
Over time, he realized that Gu Qingcheng wasn’t doing anything malicious, save for her occasional fiery temper.
At the very least, she had a strong sense of right and wrong and was deserving of the affection President Huo had shown her for so many years.
He also noticed an odd pattern: every time Huo Sicheng and Gu Qingcheng argued, their bond grew stronger.
Nonetheless, it was best if they avoided quarrels. If they couldn’t reconcile one day, it would be the end. This was why he advised President Huo to be gentler with his wife.
Huo Sicheng gave Chu Yu a cold stare for a few moments, then exited the room to head to the beach and find Gu Qingcheng.
At that very moment, Gu Qingcheng’s body felt weak and feeble. Seated in her chair, she watched the video, her head spinning.
Qi Shaoze walked into the study carrying a tray of fruits. He looked at Gu Qingcheng, his expression reflecting concern.
“Haven’t you been resting well these past few days? Why do you appear so worn
Upon seeing Qi Shaoze, Gu Qingcheng paused the video and quickly opened a movie website to hide what she was watching.
She refrained from informing Qi Shaoze about the ordeal she had endured at the hands of Chu He. Instead, she casually mentioned, “Just caught up in the game of ‘Sleep’.”
In truth, sleeping beside Huo Sicheng brought her immense tranquility and comfort. She slept soundly during those nights.
“Stubborn as always,” Qi Shaoze remarked, his voice tinged with pain. “I can tell you’ve been tormented by Huo Sicheng to this extent.”
Gu Qingcheng picked up a slice of honeydew and began eating. “No, he’s been very considerate towards me.”
Qi Shaoze’s expression stiffened. “And you’re still angry even though Huo Sicheng treats you well? It’s evident he doesn’t treat you right, yet you’re defending him. You’re practically asking for trouble.”
As she chewed, Gu Qingcheng raised an eyebrow. “I don’t have a taste for abuse. I’m being honest. He has been treating me kindly. Except for the times he needs a lesson, he’s been understanding and caring.”
Qi Shaoze sat down next to Gu Qingcheng, his tone serious. “I’ve been understanding with you as well. But I don’t recall you mentioning that I treat you well.”
“Do you have selective memory?” Gu Qingcheng rolled her eyes at Qi Shaoze.
“Didn’t I tell you that you treat me better than Huo Sicheng, back in the car?”
Qi Shaoze’s face lit up with a smile at Gu Qingcheng’s words. “Yes, I remember now. It seems I hold a more significant place in your heart than Huo Sicheng.”
“Haha,” Gu Qingcheng chuckled, feigning annoyance. “This honeydew is incredibly sweet.”
Qi Shaoze’s gaze softened. “Not as sweet as you.”
Gu Qingcheng squinted her eyes, feeling a strange sense of familiarity that reminded her of Huo Sicheng.
He, too, used to compliment her sweetness, though he’d add a touch of allure to it.
“Between us, it’s not very appropriate for you to call me sweet. Those are romantic words. My husband can say them, but you shouldn’t. Refrain from using such words in the future.” She playfully raised her leg, giving Qi Shaoze a light kick. “Now, leave. I need to handle some matters alone in the study.”
Qi Shaoze didn’t leave immediately. Instead, he gazed at Gu Qingcheng, a glint of amusement in his eyes.
“Aunt, there’s something I’d like to ask you.”
Gu Qingcheng sighed. “What is it?”
“If Huo Sicheng were to betray you one day, would you still love him?”
“Betrayal?” Gu Qingcheng’s brows furrowed, and she questioned Qi Shaoze, “What do you mean by betrayal?”
Qi Shaoze leaned on his hand, smiling. “Let’s say he gets involved with another woman and they become intimate.”
The sweetness of the honeydew suddenly vanished from Gu Qingcheng’s mourn.
She thought about Huo Sicheng and Ji Sisi becoming a sensation.
“Huo Sicheng has already committed the type of betrayal you’re asking about,” she informed Qi Shaoze. “His involvement with Ji Sisi is a betrayal.’
“Oh,” she sighed. “That scoundrel is just too good-looking and skilled at charming people. It’s the first time I’ve forgiven him.” But it wasn’t his appearance that captivated me; it was the kindness in my heart that granted him the opportunity to remain my husband.”
“Ji Sisi doesn’t count,” Qi Shaoze shook his head. “What if Huo Sicheng gets involved with another woman in the future?”
A heavy feeling settled in Gu Qingcheng’s heart. She thought not only of Ji Sisi but also of Huo Sicheng’s former lover.
What if Huo Sicheng returned one day and asked her to step down from her role as Mrs. Huo?
“People rarely change their fundamental nature. A man who’s easily swayed can’t stay committed to one woman for a lifetime,” Qi Shaoze’s eyes darkened, and he murmured, “When the day comes that Huo Sicheng betrays you, will you leave him?”
Gu Qingcheng pursed her lips. “I don’t know.”
Her response was truthful. How could she predict the outcome of an event that hadn’t occurred?
Moreover, Huo Sicheng was a bachelor in her previous life.
Even though the timeline of her existence was altered, and Huo Sicheng had a son now, she still became his wife.
“Ah, you don’t know about the future. How rare,” Qi Shaoze teased Gu Qingcheng with a hint of affection. “That’s unusual.’
Gu Qingcheng playfully kicked Qi Shaoze. “I’m not a fortune teller. I can’t predict the world’s mysteries. Now, move aside. Don’t hinder my work.”
A smile tugged at Qi Shaoze’s lips as though he had something more to say, but he left without uttering a word.
Meanwhile, Gu Qingcheng resumed watching the video while enjoying her fruit.
On the balcony, Qi Shaoze poured himself a glass of wine and stared at the sea in contemplation. His eyes held a mix of complicated emotions.
As time passed, a Rolls-Royce entered his line of sight.
When he saw Huo Sicheng stepping out of the car, his gaze narrowed, and he stood up from his seat, leaving the observation deck.
Huo Sicheng arrived at Qi Shaoze’s seaside villa. Seeing the wide-open door, a cold glint flashed in his eyes.
“Qi Shaoze is quite hospitable, leaving the door wide open,” Chu Yu remarked, looking around. “This place is so secluded. Isn’t he worried about inviting thieves?”
Huo Sicheng pursed his lips and entered the villa.
Chu Yu sensed the anger radiating from Huo Sicheng and realized he might have said something untoward.
No matter how audacious Qi Shaoze was, he wouldn’t have opened the villa door. He must have sensed President Huo’s presence and left it open for him.
He observed Huo Sicheng’s demeanor. The coldness on President Huo’s handsome face was unmistakable, and it sent a shiver down his spine.
Qi Shaoze would never open the villa door on his own, not to mention inviting President Huo inside. It appeared that Qi Shaoze had noticed President Huo’s arrival and opened the door to let him in.
Chu Yu cautiously studied Huo Sicheng. The icy demeanor and murderous aura emanating from him made him slightly anxious.
“What’s the matter?” he asked Chu Yu coldly with his slender eyes.. “Do you fear that I’ll walk in and find Madam and Qi Shaoze together?”
