Chapter 134 - 134: Rivals in Love Meet, Green With Envy
Chu Yu was consumed by nervousness and fear.
The intensity of President Huo’s gaze bore into him like a knife, cutting through him.
Unwittingly, he felt like he had been disassembled into fragments under President Huo’s scrutiny.
“President Huo… Please, I beg for your forgiveness,” Chu Yu stammered, hastily stepping aside to make way for him.
A short while ago, he had prevented President Huo from entering Qi Shaoze’s residence, precisely as instructed by President Huo himself. His action was driven by his fear that Gu Qingcheng might betray Mr. Huo, endangering their fragile marriage.
Regrettably, he couldn’t impede Huo Yunshen any longer. All he could do was hope fervently that, no matter how upset she was with him, Gu Qingcheng wouldn’t betray her husband.
The consequences of such a betrayal would be nothing short of catastrophic.
Unhindered, Huo Sicheng entered Qi Shaoze’s residence. The expansive living room bore a modern decor, emanating an air of sophistication and style. Seated on a leather sofa with a glass of wine in hand, Qi Shaoze directed a captivating smile towards Huo Sicheng, his eyes resembling peach blossoms. “welcome, president Huo.”
Huo Sicheng’s gaze remained as piercing as ever, fixed on Qi Shaoze. His voice was low and frigid. “How dare you.”
“President Huo, there’s no need for anger,” Qi Shaoze’s smile persisted. “Qingcheng contacted me, asking to come over. If you doubt my words, you can inquire with her. I can’t change your feelings even after explaining.”
“Nevertheless, remember this, President Huo: you’re within my premises. Should you act rashly and disturb Qingcheng, her resentment towards you will only deepen.”
“You insolent…” Chu Yu couldn’t bear Qi Shaoze’s use of Gu Qingcheng to intimidate President Huo. “Have some dignity as a man, rather than resorting to such despicable tactics under the cover of your wife!”
Qi Shaoze’s calm remained unruffled. He cast a slow glance at Chu Yu, his eyes charged with hostility. “A mere assistant has no right to intervene here,” he retorted. “President Huo hasn’t spoken yet, and yet you, a subordinate, dare to confront your superior. Quite audacious!”
Chu Yu felt his frustration mounting but found himself unable to articulate a response. He had indeed crossed his boundaries.
However, Qi Shaoze’s conduct was loathsome. A man who took refuge behind a woman, employing Gu Qingcheng as leverage to threaten Huo Sicheng, displayed a pitiable lack of courage.
Yet, Gu Qingcheng was Huo Sicheng’s vulnerability.
Unless Gu Qingcheng and Qi Shaoze weren’t acquainted or if Qi Shaoze were out of the picture and the truth concealed from Gu Qingcheng.
Otherwise, even if Qi Shaoze threatened President Huo, Huo Sicheng couldn’t take action against him. After all, Huo Sicheng had already confronted Qi Shaoze. Failing to deal with him swiftly meant that when Qi Shaoze disclosed to Gu Qingcheng that Huo Sicheng had mistreated him, it would strain the Huo couple’s relationship further.
Damned be it!
Qi Shaoze was a villain of the worst kind!
Qi Shaoze’s vile demeanor was unimpressed by Huo Sicheng’s presence. He exchanged words with President Huo without reservation, skillfully weaving his threats with a veneer of charm.
“Impressive, President Huo,” he chuckled, “to spend your time waiting for
Qingcheng. However, it would be such a shame if you find it time wasted.”
Huo Sicheng’s wheelchair pivoted towards Qi Shaoze. His voice carried a frosty edge. “Waiting for my wife is never a waste of time. Only indifference could render time meaningless.”
Qi Shaoze’s smile faltered for a split second before resuming with an air of nonchalance. “You’re right, of course. Waiting for Qingcheng is always time well spent ”
However, it wasn’t lost on Qi Shaoze that Huo Sicheng’s derision regarding the ‘waste of time’ comment was quite distinct from his desire to exclusively have Gu Qingcheng.
“President Huo’s observation is astute,” Chu Yu felt a sense of relief witnessing President Huo’s mockery of Qi Shaoze’s notion of ‘wasted time’. It was a far cry from Qi Shaoze’s ambition of possessing Gu Qingcheng entirely.
“Indeed,” Qi Shaoze regained his smile, imbuing it with a double entendre.
“Waiting for Qingcheng is an investment, not a waste.”
Huo Sicheng’s voice turned as cutting as a blade. “It’s a pity you won’t be around to wait for her in this lifetime.”
Qi Shaoze paled, his smile freezing as though he had been slapped across the face.
Chu Yu closely observed Qi Shaoze’s reaction. He could sense Qi Shaoze’s momentary relief after being metaphorically slapped by President Huo.
Struggling for words, Qi Shaoze finally managed, “You underestimate me. I can wait for six years. Ten years if needed.”
Huo Sicheng’s gaze remained frigid. “You won’t be marrying my wife in six years. Do you honestly believe you can succeed in ten?”
Qi Shaoze was visibly shaken, unexpectedly confronted with Huo Sicheng’s assertion of his presence and influence.
“You don’t even harbor genuine feelings for her, so why hold onto her?” Huo Sicheng’s gaze bore into Qi Shaoze. “If you truly have her best interests at heart, then release her.”
“It’s you who should let go.”
Qi Shaoze’s counterargument was swift, marked with an unsettling calmness.
“You.”
Huo Sicheng’s retort was swift, his tone definitive. “It’s you.”
Qi Shaoze’s response was tinged with conviction. “Sooner or later, you’ll divorce.”
Huo Sicheng asserted his dominance, his voice unwavering. “We won’t divorce.”
“Do you possess such certainty?” Qi Shaoze’s persistence flared, his anger ignited.. “Would you dare bet on it with me?”
