Chapter 668 - 668: Contact
“Though it may not be proper to say this, should we consider sending her back? After all, we are no match for Charlie,” Jardins suggested.
‘What if he finds out his daughter is with us? What will happen to us then?” Jardins’ words caught Luo Feng by surprise.
In Luo Feng’s impression, Jardins was a fearless child. So why was she worried now?
“You know I’m not afraid of trouble,” Jardins said, “but if they ruin my grandmother’s toy market, that would be a real issue.”
“This market is my grandmother’s life’s work. I can’t just stand by and watch it get destroyed because of me.” A look of distress crossed Jardins’ face. Although she was not afraid of trouble—worst case, she could just run away—the toy market was not so easily moved.
Luo Feng remained silent for a while before responding. “Don’t worry. They won’t find this place so easily. And rest assured, whatever happens, I will protect both you and the toy market. I won’t let anyone cause any damage.”
Luo Feng patted his chest, assuring Jardins, who chose to trust him despite her concerns.
“How about this, I’ll accompany you on this delivery. You don’t have to worry too much then.”
The two agreed and the next day, Luo Feng came over to help Jardins load the truck. Their toy wholesale market was still small, so they hadn’t hired anyone; they took care of everything themselves.
Once everything was loaded, Jardins still seemed worried. Luo Feng patted her on the shoulder and said, “Don’t worry. As long as you don’t let your imagination run wild, we’ll be fine. And we must make contact with Charlie and Maria. ”
So, Luo Feng drove, with Jardins sitting beside him, and they set off. Their destination was Maria’s house. Upon their arrival, they found Maria anxiously preparmg to leave.
“Just leave the stuff at the property management office. They will arrange it for me,” Maria said, hurrying out. Luo Feng could tell she was probably off to search for Alice.
“If I help you find Alice, would you be willing to give me the Maitreya Buddha statue?” Luo Feng asked.
Maria froze at the question, then turned to look at Luo Feng. “Do you have news of Miss Alice?”
“How could I? You all have been searching for a whole day without success; how could I be any faster?” Luo Feng replied with a smile.
“I’m just asking. If I help you find her, can you give me the Maitreya Buddha statue? If yes, I’ll also help search.”
Maria didn’t believe that Luo Feng had no clues. In her eyes, Luo Feng was not reckless; if he said this, he must have some lead.
“Let’s talk when you actually find her,” Maria said, not wanting to get entangled with Luo Feng. As she was about to leave, Luo Feng called out, “If you don’t have the authority to decide on this, perhaps you could report it to your boss? My phone is always on.”
Maria left without further ado.
“Why did you mention Alice to her? What if she gets suspicious and investigates? What will we do?” Jardins asked, puzzled.
“Don’t worry, they won’t,” Luo Feng said, driving to the property management office. “Let them contact me. Trust me, I would never use Alice as a bargaining chip.”
Jardins couldn’t comprehend it, but chose not to question Luo Feng. On the other end, Maria called Charlie as soon as she got into her car.
“Any news of Miss Alice?” Charlie inquired.
Maria hesitated but quickly regained her composure. “Sir, although we haven’t found her yet, I suspect someone named Luo Feng. He’s shown great interest in our Maitreya Buddha statue. I’ve investigated him; he’s not ordinary. And this morning, he asked me if he could exchange information about Alice for the statue.”
Charlie remained silent for a while before responding, “Compile all information on Luo Feng and send it to me. Then call him to arrange a meeting.”
After hanging up, Charlie massaged his temples. These past few days had been relentless. He had just returned from resolving a major issue, and now his daughter had gone missing.
Soon, information on Luo Feng arrived. As Charlie looked at Luo Feng’s photo, he remembered seeing him yesterday at the Cosmic Building.
“So it’s him…” Charlie mumbled..
