Chapter 669 - 669: Face-to-Face Meeting
After taking the call and listening to the other party’s self-introduction, Luo Feng was briefly surprised.
“Is it true, Luo Feng, that you have information about my daughter?”
“Yes, I do, but—”
“I’ve already sent the statue of Maitreya Buddha to your company. If you’re at the office, you should be able to see it in about ten minutes.”
“I hope you’ll call me back once you’ve seen it.”
With that, Charlie hung up.
Luo Feng was conveniently at the office. As Charlie had predicted, the item arrived ten minutes later.
After signing for the delivery, Luo Feng inspected the item and found no issues.
However, Luo Feng didn’t immediately call Charlie back; instead, he took a moment to ponder.
The man had acted swiftly; any subterfuge on Luo Feng’s part would seem inappropriate.
Now that the item had arrived, Luo Feng’s most pressing matter was to ask Alice whether she wanted to go back to her father or not.
If Alice agreed, all would be well. But if she did not wish to go, the situation would become more complicated.
After some thought, Luo Feng first called Jardins.
“Is Alice there?”
After a moment’s hesitation, Jardins gave a positive answer. “She’s here. Do you want to speak to her?”
“I’d like to have a word with her; call her over, please.”
Although Luo Feng did not specify the topic, Jardins could guess it was most likely about Alice’s father.
Soon enough, Alice’s voice came through.
Luo Feng got straight to the point:
“Your father wants to meet you. Are you willing?”
Hearing Luo Feng’s direct question, Alice paused.
After a long silence, Alice finally asked, “What does he want from me?” “I don’t know, but if you want to find out, I can ask him for you.”
Luo Feng was straightforward. Alice pondered silently for a while before responding.
“Then ask him. I’d also like to know what he could possibly want from me at this point.”
The conversation ended there. Luo Feng was a bit surprised; Alice seemed much more mature than she appeared.
This maturity would certainly make things easier for Luo Feng.
Next, Luo Feng called Charlie.
“It took you a while to call back; I assume you’ve discussed things with Alice?” Charlie was indeed shrewd, accurately guessing Luo Feng’s actions.
“You and your daughter are both exceptionally rational. Talking to people like you simplifies matters greatly.”
“Since you’ve asked, I’ll convey her question: what do you want from her?”
Without hesitation, Charlie replied, “She’s my daughter, and she’s missing. Do I need a reason to look for her?”
“If you were an ordinary father and daughter, then no. But your relationship doesn’t seem ordinary, does it?”
“If you’re willing to be honest, I’ll relay your words to Alice. If you have anything to hide, I’ll return the Buddha statue to you.” Charlie was somewhat taken aback by Luo Feng’s boldness.
“It seems you’re not afraid of offending me.”
“I fear no one, and that includes you.”
Luo Feng was firm. Anyone else might have already faced repercussions from Charlie for such audacity.
“Just tell Alice that if she really doesn’t want to, then I won’t force her.” “And then?”
“Nothing more. Tell her that, and then we can arrange a meeting.”
With that, Charlie hung up.
Though the situation seemed straightforward, Luo Feng felt that it was too significant to be discussed over the phone. He decided to talk to Alice in person.
He left the office and headed for the toy market, where Alice and Jardins were playing with building blocks.
Both seemed happy, but Alice’s smile vanished as Luo Feng approached. Not because she disliked Luo Feng, but because she knew he would bring up her father.
After Luo Feng explained everything, Alice fell into a state of indecision.
Seeing her like this, Jardins put his hands on Alice’s shoulders and said, “Don’t worry, do what you feel is right.. We will support you!”
