Chapter 718 - 718: Traveling Together
After Luo Feng and Luna left the scene, the shock on Luna’s face did not diminish in the slightest.
“What kind of person are you, exactly? How can the fearsome leader of that gang be so courteous to you?” Luna persistently inquired throughout their journey. Luo Feng, with a hint of exasperation, replied, “I’m just an ordinary man. I’ve started a small logistics company in Atlanta, and it’s a new one at that. I have no special background.”
Luo Feng’s words clearly did not convince Luna, but he had no intention of elaborating further, especially since he himself was uncertain about the gang leader’s unusual behavior.
Luna didn’t press further, as her major concern had already been addressed. As for Luo Feng’s true identity, she seemed indifferent.
“All right, now that your issues have been resolved, you should go do whatever you need to and stop following me,” Luo Feng said, gesturing dismissively. He preferred to operate solo.
However, Luna instantly took umbrage at his words. “Come on! Just because the immediate crisis is over, you want to cast me aside?”
Her expression darkened, and she looked at Luo Feng with a mixture of indignation and hurt. “Regardless, I’m staying with you. If you don’t want me around, you’d have to kill me first!”
Luna kept trailing behind Luo Feng, who found her persistence tiresome yet endearing. “Let me be clear,” he cautioned, “My actions will antagonize many, and I’ll surely face retaliation. If you come with me, it’ll be a world of trouble.”
He spoke truthfully, aware that many of the antiques and artifacts were coveted by collectors. Any attempt to secure these treasures would inevitably lead to conflicts.
Luna, however, seemed unswayed. “That’s exactly why you need a reliable assistant, like me,” she said with a confident grin.
Luo Feng pondered her proposition and finally relented with a sigh, “You can accompany me for now, but you can’t stay with me forever.”
“Don’t worry,” Luna reassured, “when I decide to leave, I will. No matter what you offer, I won’t stay.” After declaring this, she clung to Luo Feng’s arm, jesting, “With a pretty young girl like me following you, people might think you’re involved in child trafficking. Let’s just call each other siblings. I never had a brother anyway.”
Luo Feng accepted Luna’s proposal, realizing that a defined relationship between them might facilitate their future endeavors.
Having settled their arrangement, Luo Feng returned to his hotel to find Mr.
Blake and his son waiting for him. Their expressions were enigmatic, and Luo Feng couldn’t decipher their thoughts.
“What brings you here?” Luo Feng inquired. The two exchanged a glance before Mr. Blake stepped forward.
“Mr. Luo, regarding the matter we discussed earlier, have you had a chance to investigate?” He was clearly referring to Andy.
Luo Feng responded, “Not only did I investigate, but I’ve also secured the item.”
Mr. Blake’s astonishment was evident. He knew Andy’s nature – the man either charged exorbitant prices or refused to negotiate altogether.
“You mean Andy didn’t give you a hard time?” Mr. Blake asked, still in disbelief.
Luna eagerly jumped in, “Of course he did! But those thugs were no match for my brother! He took them down in no time!”
While Luo Feng wasn’t particularly fond of such exaggerations, he let Luna have her moment. Mr. Blake, however, found it hard to believe. He had been trying to deal with Andy for a decade with little success.
As Mr. Blake contemplated his response, the door suddenly opened, revealing Andy. Upon seeing him, Mr. Blake stiffened, his body trembling with a mix of rage and fear. He forced himself to maintain his composure.
“Mr. Luo,” Andy began with an unexpected humility, “The boss instructed me to deliver this item to you.”
With a gesture, three men entered, carrying a statue of Buddha..
