Chapter 721 - 721: A Slip-up
“You’re the first person in five years to have the audacity to speak to me this way. Since you’re so bold, you should be ready to face the consequences of your actions. ”
With that, the man raised his head, glancing over Luo Feng’s shoulder towards Chinatown behind him.
“It’s been five years. Perhaps it’s time everyone was reminded of the consequences of defying me.”
He then stepped aside, allowing the thugs behind him to surge forward.
The thugs, though menacing in appearance, posed little threat to Luo Feng.
The closest thug lunged, but Luo Feng deftly sidestepped the punch. Seizing the opportunity, he grabbed the thug’s arm, pressing it to the ground, sending the man crashing uncontrollably to the pavement.
Taking advantage of the thug’s imbalance, Luo Feng planted a foot on his back, pinning him. This swift series of moves took less than a second, leaving the remaining thugs astonished.
They continued to advance, but Luo Feng, with a swift kick to the downed thug’s stomach, sent him hurtling into several others.
Despite their numbers, it was clear the thugs were outmatched. Their confidence wavered, uncertain of their fate in this skirmish.
Their leader, watching from a distance, was equally surprised. He hadn’t expected such a formidable opponent today.
But he wasn’t one for playing fair. Seeing his men overpowered, he pulled out a handgun, aiming it at Luo Feng.
“You seem quite skilled, don’t you?” he taunted.
Luo Feng halted his movements, realizing the gravity of the situation. He could predict the gunman’s actions from the slight movement of his wrist, potentially dodging the bullet. However, he was concerned for Luna, who wasn’t skilled enough to do the same. If the frustrated gunman decided to target her, the results could be catastrophic.
“This isn’t very sporting, is it?” Luo Feng remarked, spreading his hands in a nonchalant gesture.
“What’s sporting got to do with it? You’ve openly challenged me on my own turf. If I don’t make an example out of you, who in Chinatown will respect my authority?”
“So, you rule over Chinatown just to instill fear in others?”
Hearing this, the man chuckled, “Not just that.” He paused, shifting his tone, “I want everyone to fear me.”
It was a grand proclamation, but considering his brazen behavior, Luo Feng surmised he might genuinely believe it.
With a hint of amusement, Luo Feng responded, “It’s unfortunate then. From what I’ve seen, you’re nowhere near achieving that.”
This simple statement shattered the man’s facade. He had intended to intimidate Luo Feng, to make this audacious young man cower. Now, he realized that if he didn’t assert his dominance, his reputation would be in tatters.
“Fine, you seem eager to provoke me. If you wish for death, I won’t hold back!”
At his command, the thugs intensified their assault, while he waited with his gun, seeking an opportunity.
Luo Feng parried and dodged the attackers, but his focus remained on the gunman. A single lapse in concentration could be deadly, not just for him but also for Luna, who was barely managing to fend off the attackers.
Knowing he had to act, Luo Feng devised a plan. He intentionally exposed a vulnerability, feigning ignorance of the gunman’s intentions. As expected, the man took the bait, aiming to shoot Luo Feng.
Seizing the moment, Luo Feng grabbed a nearby thug, using him as a human shield. Blood splattered as Luo Feng, still shielded, charged towards the gang leader.
Panicking, the leader fired in desperation, but with the human shield, Luo Feng remained unscathed.
In a blink, Luo Feng was upon him..
