地震时怎样保护自己

Chapter 186 - 187 Simon White (3)

Then she was startled awake.

Her cell phone alarm kept on ringing next to her ear, and she sat dazedly by her bedside for a long time before coming to. When she woke up, the room was bathed in an ethereal glow, and apart from her, there was no one else present. Her luggage was still next to her, untouched.

As she got up and freshened up, his toothbrush, cup, and towel remained undisturbed, showing no signs of use. After packing her things, she lugged her suitcase downstairs, and couldn’t help but ask, “Aunt Hao, no one came back last night, did they?”

Aunt Hao shook her head. The young master had instructed her not to tell. But seeing Lu Weixi pulling her suitcase, she still couldn’t help but remind, “The young master…”

Lu Weixi paused and turned back. Aunt Hao thought for a bit before saying, “He actually cares a lot about you.”

“Alright, thank you.”

Lu Weixi nodded in a polite manner. When she got on the taxi, she was still thinking. She must have been deep in thought when listening to Xue Feifei reminiscing about her first love. Otherwise, why would she keep feeling like someone was calling her by her nickname?

Other than her parents, the only person who knew her nickname was Qin Zhigu. Why was she always dreaming about Qin Zhigu calling her nickname recently, just like that day when she was drunk?

They say dreams are extensions of one’s waking life. But she hadn’t thought about Qin Zhigu at all. He, just like her past, had been deeply buried in her memories, never to be unearthed.

Hopefully, she wouldn’t run into Qin Zhigu on this voyage…

Then again, with such a significant event as the 50th anniversary of Hanhai Group’s founding, everyone except the elderly patriarch whose health was failing, and Yang Mogui who had no interest in such events, was there from the Qin Family. Qin Zhigu had already returned to China, so he was very likely to appear at this banquet.

However, she didn’t know why she had this gut feeling that the one calling her by her nickname in her dreams wasn’t Qin Zhigu, but the detestable Qin Zhiyou.

Shaking her head, she laughed at herself. She must be sleep-deprived and overthinking, to even imagine that the gentle and affectionate figure in her dream was Qin Zhiyou.

She arrived at the airport and took care of check-in procedures. Hanhai had booked round-trip flights for the lucky draw winners, but as these were prizes, they were definitely not first class or business class. This was probably for the best since she estimated that she would risk a brief encounter with Qin Zhiyou in the airport VIP lounge. Once on the plane, she promptly fell asleep for three hours. After the flight, she had a quick meal, took a shuttle to the nearest drop-off point to the dock, and then hailed a cab over.

After a long and tiring journey, it was four in the afternoon by the time she arrived at the docks. Since the cruise ship would sail out to international waters, passport checks were needed. Before boarding, she activated her satellite internet service. Once all the procedures were complete, she finally boarded the ship.

At six in the evening, the cruise ship set sail. Standing alone on the deck, Lu Weixi listened to the sporadic cries of the seagulls, her mood as tumultuous as the sea.

On the deck, a mother and her child were feeding the seagulls. Lu Weixi watched them from afar, her thoughts gradually drifting away.

She heard from the passersby behind her that besides the banquet and Qin Zhiyou, one other name was frequently mentioned: Simon White.

Simon White, a rising star in global architecture for the past few years, was a mystery, remaining away from the public eye. But this time, he was on the guest list for Hanhai Group’s event..
