Chapter 1105: Settling Down

Chapter 1105: Settling Down

After thoroughly convincing Eivann of his decision to enlist as a mercenary, the two of them eventually headed inside the military base, unsurprisingly catching the attention of some of the people that had gathered near the entrance earlier.

Though, with Eivann\'s position as a major, it did not take long for those people to disperse as the two of them swiftly made their way to the registration area.

"If possible, it would be great if you don\'t lose your identification token," said the attendant as he gave an iron token to Valyr. "Not only is it a proof of identity, but it also tracks all of the missions you\'ve completed, as well as the merit points you\'ve earned."

"I\'ll keep that in mind." Nodding in response, Valyr thanked the attendant in return as he looked at his identification token in detail.

In a way, the identification token acted similarly to the identification badge he had in the Blacksmith Guild in that it kept track of a lot of things related to him.

However, unlike the Blacksmith Guild\'s badge, the identification token was as simple as it could get, with only the name \'Ylvar\' engraved on its coin-like surface as proof that he was the one who owned it.

Admiring it for a bit more, he eventually stowed the token into his spatial bracelet before giving Eivann a nod.

Nodding back in response, the two of them soon left the registration area, only to arrive at the center of the large military base soon after.

Looking around the large roundabout they were in, Valyr eventually looked back at Eivann after seeing the man point back to the registration area.

"If you head there, you\'ll find a lot of accommodations to stay in while you\'re not in the middle of the mission," said the man, to which Valyr committed to memory. "There\'s a lot of inns and restaurants there as well if you want to unwind, even."

"Though, it does cost a couple merit points to get some of the really good stuff there." Eivann shrugged his shoulders, only to then point in front of them.

"Up ahead would be the place to get your missions," the man told him. "Aside from the main mission hall, there\'s also smaller mission halls surrounding it that belong to the class guilds."

"All in all, expect all of the missions you get to have something to do with the ongoing war, even if some of them reward points that might make it seem otherwise."

"To your left would be the general area for personal improvement," said Eivann as Valyr continued to admire the sight around them. "Aside from training areas and skill book shops, there\'s also stores you could buy weapons and potions from, as well as a treasure pavilion that holds an auction roughly every two months."

"Of course, just like the inns and restaurants, only merit points allow you to get the good stuff from the auction."

"Last but not the least would be the area to your right, which more or less has every necessary building you\'d expect from a hastily built city," said the man as he let out a bit of laughter at his own joke. "In any case, that\'s where most of the rentable workshops could be found, though some missions you take do waive that rental fee."

"Anyways, I think I\'ve covered everything you need to know to get started in this place," said Eivann as he took a bit of time to catch his breath. "As someone who\'s already gone through the whole thing, I\'d suggest you take a look at the main mission hall and finish enough missions to raise your rank to the next rank as soon as possible."

Seeing the young man raise his eyebrow in response, the man continued to explain himself. "By raising your rank to the next rank within the month, you basically won\'t have to do any missions for the month after that."

"Of course, you didn\'t hear this from me."

Hearing the man dodge responsibility from his own words, Valyr let out a chuckle in response as he thanked Eivann for his time.

In response, the man told him that it was no problem, telling him that he should thank Julian for his help if he really wanted to thank anyone.

With Valyr more or less knowing everything he needed to know for the meantime, Eivann eventually decided to take his leave, wishing the young man good luck as he told him that he still had things to do.

Though, before the man could even take a single step, Valyr immediately stopped him in his tracks, asking him if it was possible to add him to his friend list, to which Eivann thought for a bit before nodding.

Ding!

[Eivann Rahlberd (Lvl. 96) has accepted to be your friend.]

Smiling as he briefly looked at the new name on his friend list, Valyr stopped Eivann yet again, which surprisingly now made the latter a bit annoyed.

"What is it?" asked the man, briefly taking a deep breath to calm himself. "I really am serious when I say I still have something else to do."

"It won\'t take up much of your time," said Valyr in response, swiftly apologizing not long after. "I just wanted to upgrade your equipment as a token of my gratitude."

Hearing those words, Eivann\'s expression immediately turned into that of slight excitement. After all, a well-known blacksmith was upgrading his equipment for what seemed like no charge at all.

Though, before he voiced out his suggestion, another thought popped up in Eivann\'s mind, causing him to slightly frown at the young man as he asked, "Although I\'ve come to know of you as a good guy, you do know you wouldn\'t buy my favor with this, right?"

"Didn\'t even cross my mind," said Valyr in response with a shake of his head, his expression showing the man that he didn\'t think of it from that perspective at all. "I really just wanted to say thanks for the help."

"Especially after how you treated Edward and Wells while I was away."

"..." At those words, Eivann went silent for a bit, only to send Julian a couple of messages after that because of the young man\'s words.

Fortunately, with a few back-and-forth messages between them, the man eventually understood what was going on, causing him to let out a faint sigh as he looked back at Valyr

"Since you insist, then I won\'t be shy," said Eivann after some time. "Let\'s head to the workshops, then."

"Wait a second... I thought you had something else to do?"

"Eh. I could always do that some other time. It\'s just a bit of paperwork, that\'s all."

"...Is that really why?"
