Chapter 1106: Starting Out
Chapter 1106: Starting Out
Tapping a few more times on the pauldrons with the Hammer of Beginnings, Valyr eventually nodded in satisfaction after getting a notification from the system that the upgrade was a
success.
Giving the pauldrons back to the man standing behind him, he went ahead and used his identification skill on it, telling the system to also bring up its stats from before the enhancement.

\'I\'ve basically doubled the performance of Eivann\'s equipment,\' inwardly muttered Valyr to himself as he was reminded of all the other pieces of equipment he\'d upgraded before this one.
Once Eivann eventually accepted Valyr\'s suggestion of having his equipment be upgraded for free, the two did not take long to arrive at one of the workshops, with Eivann even footing the bill during their stay.
Swiftly familiarizing himself with the layout, as well as the tools that were available in the workshop that was temporarily lent to him, Valyr decided to work as quickly as he could, asking the man to bring all of his equipment so he could upgrade all of them in one go.
From there, he was given a set of armor and a weapon that could be said to be decent for a Rank 4 class holder, with all of them at Rare+ grade and at Level 75.
Of course, if one were to take into consideration the fact that Eivann was already nearing the peak of Rank 5, then his current set of equipment did not match his level at all.
With that, Valyr took out the Hammer of Beginnings from his spatial bracelet before proceeding to enhance all of Eivann\'s equipment to match the man\'s current level.
At the same time, he asked him why his equipment didn\'t seem up to par to his current level of strength, to which the man replied that he did not have the merit points to ask a blacksmith to do it for him.
"Of course, we\'re talking about quality upgrades here," Eivann told him. "If it was just the basics, then even 10 to 20 merit points is more than enough to bring my equipment up to spec."
"But I haven\'t saved up enough to swap to a better set of equipment yet," continued the man, only to wryly smile soon after. "Hence, I planned on having a more skilled blacksmith do work on it so I could have it last longer."
Nodding in understanding after that, Valyr then went ahead and refined all of the equipment to their maximum refinement level, feeling as if the heavens were aiding him during the process.
Then, still feeling like the heavens were helping him out in upgrading Eivann\'s equipment, the young man eventually decided to take it one step further and advanced all of it to the 1st
Tier.
Naturally, with all of Eivann\'s equipment still at Rare + grade, there was a bit of hesitation in advancing its foundation since there was still a decent chance for him to fail and render the equipment useless.
Fortunately, none of the man\'s equipment failed during the advancement process, causing Eivann to become more and more wide-eyed the more of his equipment returned to him back in even greater form.
"I... I don\'t know what to say." Equipping all of the pieces of armor on himself, Eivann immediately felt a greater surge of strength course through his body, only for it to become more pronounced the moment he wielded his weapon.
Biting on his lips as he felt a bit emotional, the man took some time to catch his breath before giving Valyr a look of gratitude. "Thank you."
"No worries." Valyr smiled back, returning the Hammer of Beginnings to his spatial bracelet as he got ready to leave. "I did say it was a token of my gratitude, after all."
"A token of your gratitude, huh?" Hearing those words come out of the young man\'s mouth, Eivann recalled the conversation they had before coming the workshop, causing a bitter smile to appear on his face.
"You really are a good guy, Ylvar," said the man after some time as he came to a decision. "I really don\'t know how I\'d repay you for this... so take it as if I owe you a favor in the future."
Valyr could only let out a chuckle as he joked back," I thought I wouldn\'t be able to buy your favor with this?"
"That was then, and this is now," replied Eivann as the two of them left the workshop. "Who knew you\'d do an amazing job of upgrading my equipment?"
"Well... blacksmithing is my area of expertise, after all."
After Eivann paid the fees for renting the workshop, which caused Valyr to raise his eyebrow in slight surprise, the two soon returned to the center, with the two parting ways not long
after.
"Thank you once again, Ylvar," said Eivann as he bade farewell to the young man. "I\'ll try to make it up to you someday."
In response, Valyr smiled as he waved back. "I\'m sure you will."
Watching the man gradually disappear from his field of vision, the young man eventually let out a faint sigh as he began to look around.
"Now, what should I do next?"
Considering how early he and the other two left Algerie Kingdom, Valyr briefly look at the sky to see where the sun was, only to realize that there was still a lot of time left before sunset. Thinking about the advice Eivann gave him earlier, the young man eventually decided to head to the mission hall after catching a quick bite from one of the nearby inns. Recalling the entire upgrading process he did for Eivann\'s equipment, Valyr could not help but smile by the time he was finished with his meal.
"I should really get some Refinement Jewels and max out my equipment," murmured Valyr to himself, remembering that he had a similar thought back in the Blacksmith Guild.
Faintly smiling at the thought, the young man eventually left the restaurant after making a quick mental note of checking the merit point store when he had the free time. Heading straight to the main mission hall now that his body was in the best condition it could be, Valyr brought up a chat screen to the side as a pair of people popped up in his mind all of a
sudden.
"I wonder how they\'re doing?" Thinking about the time he and the others spent helping each other out back in the inheritance, the young man began to smile once more as he told them that he was now at the frontlines.
Unsurprisingly, with both of them being at the frontlines, Hal and Vera were the first ones to reply back to his message, telling him that they were excited to meet him at the battlefield.
After a bit more talking, the three of them confirmed that they\'d meet up to do a small reunion in the near future, causing the young man to become a bit excited for what was to
come.
On the other hand, Loreina gave him a warmer message compared to the two, telling him to stay safe while he was out in the battlefield. After all, she\'d seen the young man fight before
in the inheritance.
With a bit of back-and-forth questioning, the young man was eventually able to find out that she was also at the frontlines just like the others.
However, unlike the two, who were basically playing with their lives out in the battlefield, she remained at the rear lines as she utilized her skills as a tailor to the fullest.
Seeing as the three responded to him fairly quickly, Valyr could not help but have a satisfied
smile on his face.
However, the same could not be said for the last person that also joined them in then/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
inheritance.
"Faulus..." Muttering the man\'s name out as he arrived at the entrance to the main mission hall, a hint of concern appeared on Valyr\'s face as he thought about the conversation they had
back then before parting ways.
Letting out a low sigh as he briefly wondered what the man was doing, Valyr eventually pushed his current train of thought to the side as he finally entered the main mission hall.
Whoosh!
At the very moment he stepped foot into the hall, the young man was immediately greeted by a sight that reminded him of his past life. Watching a lot of people come and go through the mission hall as they grabbed a mission off the boards from time to time, the young man began to recall the days he would look around for easy missions to improve his rank as quickly as possible.
Faintly smiling at the thought, the young man soon made his way to one of the mission boards, only to find out that the mission boards were arranged according to one\'s rank. Finding the mission board that corresponded to his current rank of novice mercenary, the young man immediately came face to face with a board that was about three times as large as the other mission boards.
Taking in a deep breath after being slightly overwhelmed by the number of missions that were available for him to choose, Valyr was just about to choose a mission that he felt was
suitable as his first mission...
Only for someone to come up beside him all of a sudden and talk to him in a mocking tone.
"Heh... this is the first time I\'ve seen your face around these parts." "I\'m guessing you haven\'t taken Juba\'s combat readiness test yet?"
